Launched in 2020 in Aruba, Bocobay is an international business bringing a new standard to the Caribbean vacation rental market. In late 2024, we expanded our operations to Curaçao, where we are already the highest-rated vacation rental management company with ambitious plans for continued growth.

As our maintenance operation on the island grows, we are looking for a skilled pair of hands to keep our properties in excellent condition.

About the role:

As Maintenance Technician you are the person who actually fixes things. This is a hands-on trade role, not an office one: you will spend your days moving between our properties across Curaçao carrying out repairs, servicing equipment and working through preventative maintenance so that problems are caught long before a guest finds them.

You will work to a schedule set by our Maintenance Coordinator, but you will be trusted to diagnose faults yourself, decide how best to fix them and get the job done properly the first time. Much of the work happens in occupied properties, so you will need to be tidy, polite and discreet around guests.

We are looking for a genuine all-round handyman who takes pride in their craft, is comfortable turning their hand to plumbing one hour and carpentry the next, and would rather fix the cause than patch the symptom.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out day-to-day repairs across our Curaçao portfolio, including plumbing, basic electrics, carpentry, appliances, air conditioning, pool equipment, painting and general handyman work

• Respond quickly to urgent issues raised by our front desks and guest teams, often while guests are still in the property

• Work through our preventative maintenance schedule so that recurring faults are fixed before they affect a stay

• Perform property inspections and report defects clearly, with photos and notes, so the office can quote homeowners accurately

• Prepare newly onboarded properties by working through snagging lists, assembling furniture and getting everything guest-ready

• Support third-party contractors on site for larger jobs we cannot do in-house, and check their work meets our standards before it is signed off

• Log every job accurately in our systems, including time spent, parts used and photos of the work, so we can bill homeowners correctly and spot recurring problems

• Keep your van, tools and stock of spare parts organised, and flag early when supplies need reordering

What we're looking for:

• Proven hands-on maintenance experience across several trades, ideally gained in hospitality, property management or facilities

• A practical problem solver who diagnoses the cause of a fault rather than patching over it

• Comfortable working in occupied guest properties: tidy, polite and discreet

• Great interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities

• Guest-centric and positive mindset

• An obsessive attention to detail and a high level of organization

• Comfort in independent problem solving with the humility to ask for help when needed

• Thrives in a fast paced, ever-changing, always challenging startup environment

• Confident using a smartphone to follow a task list, log jobs and take photos

• You never say that's not my job

• Fluency in Papiamento or Dutch, with enough English to deal confidently with guests

• This position requires a valid driver's License, clean driving record and the right to work in Curaçao

Important to note

We are a new company with ambitious growth plans, and we are looking for team members who are flexible and willing to evolve and grow with the company. This role will require shift working 5 days per week, including weekends, and participation in an on-call rota for urgent issues outside normal hours. Hours can vary according to business needs.
